Contact usComposite fillings are placed when there is decay in the tooth or when there is a desire to replace old silver fillings. A composite filling is a tooth colored quartz-like material. After tooth decay is removed and cleaned, the tooth colored material is layered into the tooth. Each layer is hardened or cured with a highly intense visible light. The surface is then polished to match the tooth. Once completed, the restoration is virtually invisible.
Composite fillings are environmentally non-toxic because they use no mercury. They are stronger because they bond directly to the tooth surface of the tooth. They protect the tooth from fracturing because they don’t require the severe “undercut” of a mercury filling.
